Check everything that is rubber. Rubber has a tendency to dry out, crack, and break at the least opportune times. Mask and fin straps are notorious failure points. Consider replacing fin straps with Atomic spring straps. You will love the easy on easy off use. Another great idea is to have an “emergency” back up kit with a spare mask strap and fin strap. Some of us carry a spare mask.
Leaky valves on BC’s can devour your air supply cutting short your dive. Sticky dump valves can create uncontrolled ascent issues that could prove dangerous.
